Follow the instructions in the handset's manual to determine its IP address.

  • Click Settings

  • No  is selected by default for security reasons. If you do choose  Yes  be sure to change the default access code.

From the left-hand menu:

Click Telephony

Click Connections and click the checkbox next to Edit on IP Connection 1

Click Edit on IP Connection 1

Now enter the following:

  • Authentication Name: your full 8 digit extension number
  • Authentication Password: your extension password
  • Username: your full 8 digit extension number
  • Display Name: whatever you choose
  • Click the Show Advanced Settings button and enter the following:

  • Click Set to save

From the left-hand menu, click Audio

From the left-hand menu, click Miscellaneous

  • Time Server: ntp.ezytel.net.au
  • Country: Australia
  • Time Zone: choose whichever is appropriate to you
  • Automatically adjust clock to summer-time changes: On
  • Click Set to save

Once you've put these settings in place, you should log into the ezytel Control Panel and check that our system is your public IP address, and not your internal IP address.

To do that click into the extension in question, and under the Extension Overview, look for Extension IP address.

If we're seeing your internal IP, then NAT on your local network is not working properly.

To help overcome that, go back and make the changes outlined below.

  • From the left-hand menu:
  • Click Telephony
  • Click Connections
  • Click Edit on IP Connection 1
  • Click the Show Advanced Settings button
  • Scroll to Network and enter the following:
  • STUN Enabled: No
  • STUN Server: stun.ezytel.net.au
  • STUN Port: 3478
  • Click Set to save

When the handset has reregistered to the system, refresh the ezytel Control Panel in your browser and you should now see that Extension IP address is showing your public (WAN) IP address.

All other settings can be adjusted at your discretion and to suit your needs, but please take the time to understand their implications before enabling anything other than what's been outlined in this guide.

Finally, while still on the Miscellaneous menu, you can also click the Update Firmware button to see if there is a more recent firmware available.

If a firmware update is available, the phone will prompt you and update itself. This process usually takes 5-10 minutes to complete.
